About Chef Luiz Lowndes

A Carioca at heart and a true musician, Chef Lowndes built a solid, multifaceted career in Brazilian and international gastronomy.

Trained as a professional cook by the Hotel-Escola Senac Grogotó in Minas Gerais, and with a degree in Gastronomy from IBMR in Rio de Janeiro—endorsed by the renowned Kendall College in Chicago (USA)—he also has training in Restaurant Management from SENAC RJ and specializations in Japanese cuisine and other culinary specialties.

His career includes stints in New York and Boston between 1993 and 1995, where he refined his techniques in Italian cuisine restaurants—an experience that enriched his original, cosmopolitan approach.

In Brazil, among other notable experiences, he was responsible for the New Year’s Eve dinner for footballer Neymar in Mangaratiba, from 25/12/2020 to 04/01/2021, and he led exclusive events featuring contemporary and Asian cuisine for high-end clients—including the Serbian-born artist based in New York, Marina Abramović.
